History

Héritage The RSRV collection came into existence in 1838. With its first Blanc de Noirs, a prestigious Verzenay Grand Cru, began a pursuit to identify and reveal the authentic character of Champagne’s most singular sites.
L'histoire de RSRV, Blanc de Noirs

Today, RSRV continues to maintain a deep commitment to terroir in its approach to the House of Mumm’s 218 hectares of emblematic vineyard, 73% of which is located in one of the region’s twelve Grand Cru villages.

The notion of terroir is based on four essential elements: soil, climate, the varietal and the human hand.
Inexorably linked, they forge an identity. This is what RSRV refers to as Sense of Place.
RSRV Histoire Blanc de Noirs
The human hand is incarnated by the women and men who dedicate their savoir-faire to bringing the terroirs to their best and purest forms of expression and to capturing and sharing the subtle emotions of their origins.
The resulting cuvées reveal the signature of each terroir while featuring the specificities of each vintage and respecting the collection’s hallmark characteristics: persistent freshness, finely honed structure and exceptional elegance.
As its name reveals, RSRV is deeply rooted in tradition. From the start, cellar masters set these exclusive champagnes aside for the most refined chefs, artists and other friends of the House of Mumm, marking their labels with the enigmatic letters RSRV.
An abbreviation for Réservée, or “Reserved,” recorded by hand in the House’s cellar registers, the annotation was used to designate the best juices after every harvest and the most outstanding champagnes after their first years of aging.
